A Chief Magistrate Court in Uganda on Tuesday, dropped the charges against Nigerian singer, Stanley Omah Didia aka Omah Lay, his manager Muyiwa Awomiyi and singer, Tems, born Temilade Openiyi.

The trio were arrested on Sunday, December 13, and charged with doing “acts that are likely to cause the spread of infectious disease, COVID-19” following their participation in an illegal concert at Ddungu resort in Munyonyo while the country is on lockdown.

On Monday, Dec 14, the singers were arraigned before the Makindye division court and remanded in different prisons till Wednesday, December 16.

Following the outcry from Nigerians and some diplomatic moves made by the federal government of Nigeria, the charges against them have now been dropped.

However, the four Ugandan organizers of the concert will remain charged with the offence.
