A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly raping his own mother.
The minor was cuffed on Tuesday after his mum reported him to the police in Gran Canaria, Spain, according to local reports.
He is reportedly on suicide watch after claiming to have no recollection of the attack when being quizzed by officers from the National Police force.
According to Canarias7, during an appearance at a provincial juvenile court, the boy told judge Mercedes Martinez Sanchez that he had been high on drugs.
Prosecutor Jose Antonio Blanco asked that the boy be sent to a closed juvenile prison in Tenerife called CIEMI Valle Tabares.
The court ordered for him to be sent there once the Covid-19 protocols were carried out, including the minor testing negative in a PCR test.
He will be held at the young offenders institution while an investigation is carried out. The prosecutor also asked that anti-suicide measures be put in place.
Mr Blanco said the special circumstances of the case must be taken into account, particularly the fact that the boy claimed he did not remember any of the alleged rape, presumably only finding out about it when he was arrested by police.
